You would be mistaken if you thought nothing was made in the UK anymore. It is understandable to think that inexpensive foreign labour has taken precedence over UK manufacturing, however, this no longer seems to be the case. At Select we are proud to be one of the thousands of British manufacturers and plan on keeping it that way.
According to the EEF, UK manufacturing contributes £6.7 trillion to the global economy. Contrary to widespread perceptions, UK manufacturing is thriving, with the UK currently the world’s ninth largest industrial nation. If current growth trends continue, the UK will break into the top five by 2021. In the UK, manufacturing makes up 10% of GVA, 45% of total UK exports, 69% of business R&D, and directly employs 2.7 million people.
There are plenty of advantages for UK manufacturing, such as:
Boosting the British economy
Relying less on importation
Getting great British service
Reducing carbon footprints
Purchasing top quality products
Generating more British jobs
At Select we work closely with our suppliers and have built a great network of other British manufacturers and businesses to help us achieve this goal. We also understand that not everything can be made in the UK and respect the complexity of the manufacturing industry, so we work with businesses all around the world to make Britain the best it can be.
Conclusion
We are proud to be British and want you to know that by using us you will not only be purchasing great quality products, but will also be supporting the British manufacturing industry!
